Hey and welcome to Sportly Drinking — your new favorite hydration station! I’m Vanessa — athlete, sports nutritionist, mocktail enthusiast, and the creator behind Sportly Drinking | Mocktails and More.

Sportly Drinking was born from a mix of frustration and inspiration.

After years as a professional athlete and working as a sports nutritionist in high-level sports with elite athletes, I kept noticing the same patterns pop-up — and honestly, it started to bug me:

  1. Athletes choosing alcohol without thinking twice — not realizing how much it can impact training adaptations, performance, and recovery.

  2. A whole lot of confusion around hydration — what’s actually beneficial to drink (and when) versus what’s just clever marketing.

  3. And maybe the most ironic of all: people avoiding fruit and juice because of sugar, while sipping pricey sports drinks and carb powders... that also contain sugar (usually a mix of glucose and fructose — yes, fructose, like the kind in fruit. Don’t worry, we’ll unpack that in a future post!).


💡 That’s when I knew something needed to change.

And just to be clear — I’m not anti-sports supplements.


Supplements can be super helpful in the right context. But I do believe they should be used occasionally and mindfully — not as your everyday default.


So here, you’ll get real, easy-to-digest info on hydration, health, and all things drinking —plus loads of playful, functional recipes using natural ingredients (and with the occasional supplement twist!).
